SARD8 - DTP8 - VIEW
|
|
SARD8
is used for the ultra-rapid backup and restoration of all files and F.M.S.
structures on one or several disks.
With
great ease, the user can :
- Save one
or all structures (UMC, Catalogs, Files, DEVICE, VOLUME-SET) on a
magnetic device such as a disk, tape or cartridge. SARD8 carries
out data compression, double backup and the allocation of supports,
either dynamically or by means of JCLs.
- Copy all
or part of the data and F.M.S. structures. From disk to disk, volume
to volume or structure to structure.
- Restore all
or part of a backup file in the same structures or in different structures.
DOONLY,
DONTDO, and SINCE options are available for all commands.
All structure characteristics are reinstated during copying and restoration
operations (permissions, access, etc.).
The data copies are purely physical, thus optimizing file organization time.
SARD8 handles disks and all types of magnetic devices via the integrated TMS8
interface.
A
detailed execution report is provided for each command. With SARD8,
two optional modules are available :
- SARD8-IBS (Interactive
Base Sard8) : Recording of SARD8 backups. Automatic recording without
modification of SARD8 directives. A specific program deletes obsolete
information from the base. This program may be executed automatically
after the TMS8 "SCRATCH/MOVE" program.
- SARD8-ICM (Integrity
Control Management) : Integrity Control Management module. The ICM
module automatically manages DDBA and SRMK marks setting, when one
or several files protected by Integrity Control are saved. ICM ensures
automatic restoration of one or several files in a coherent state
(Restoration + Rollforward). It filters and saves useful data from
the History Log.
SARD8
and its SARD8-IBS and SARD8-ICM modules provide a comprehensive backup
manager for BULL GCOS8 systems.

Determined
by its external configuration, DTP8 provides valuable help in both
development environments as well as in TP8 transactions.
During development DTP8 offers the possibility of displaying, instantaneously
and in real time, all transactions, directly on screen and/or on file for editing
or printing.
-
Data
display : by criteria (WORKSTATION LID, TPR, Date/Time...),
by type (INPUT/OUTPUT messages , DISPLAYS, DML verbs, TP8 call...)
-
Events
Display : Display of TPRs, beginning and end of transactions,
end of TPR with consumption (LAPSE, CP, I/O), Checkpoint, Sleeping,
conversation, INPUT and/or OUTPUT message with or without text,
DML verbs , TP8 Call , Deadlock ...
In
a production environment, equipped with variable parameter level
system, DTP8 automatically controls TPR execution (TPR or conversation
loops, maximum number of DML verbs, maximum number of TP8 calls, … ).
Furthermore, a transparent memory system displays the transactions
with abnormal endings (Abort or Deadlock). Easy to use, DTP8 requires
no transaction modifications.

VIEW
is an ultra-rapid interactive tool, which displays real-time information
concerning the environment and system performance.
This information is provided either on the screen or on file for printing.
- Host configuration
: Number of CP, IOP, CHANNELS, DEVICES, MEMORY etc.
- FMS Structures
: Master list sorted according to criteria, SMC and PMC display,
catalog and file characteristics, catalog and file search, etc.
- TSS
Information : Users connected and their activity. Display of users’ USTs
and AFTs etc.
- Process : List
of jobs with their parameters, scheduler list, workstations list,
jobs status, sysout use etc.
Integrity Control : Display of the integrity control directory per log, together
with its attributes.
- Network : List
of connected lines.
VIEW allows certain
privileged actions to be carried out : System console verbs, System
console messages and queries, UMC update, TSS messages.
VIEW provides help commands for each function.
A validation system enables hierarchical access to VIEW's functions.
